Juventus have been one of the top teams in Italy having won the Scudetto for the past seven seasons. The Italians spent a record £100 million on Cristiano Ronaldo in the summer with the aim of challenging for the Champions League this season.
This has left his involvement in the first leg at Ajax Amsterdam in doubt with media sources reporting that he is set to miss the clash. Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri recently briefed the media on the state of the player’s condition.
Allegri revealed that Ronaldo is working hard to be fit for the clash and that the condition of his leg was much better than feared. Ajax have been plucky opponents in the Champions League this season drawing twice with Bayern Munich in the group stages. While defeating Real Madrid in the last round in what was a shock for the rest of Europe.
Juventus would have to be at their best to defeat the Ajax side featuring some of the top young talents in Frenkie De Jong and De Ligt alongside experienced campaigners in Dusac Tadic and Daley Blind.
Allegri also confirmed that several injured players are likely to be fit for the clash. He revealed that Douglas Costa, Juan Cuadrado and Sami Khedira are back in training and could be in contention for the match.
Juventus are the overwhelming favourites for the clash and would be hoping that the talismanic forward would be available for the crunch tie. Juventus next face rivals AC Milan in the league on Saturday.
